Every one of the 32 Islanders who have been given another hepatitis C medication have tried negative for the infection toward the end of their treatment, says P.E.I. Wellbeing Minister Doug Currie.
Currie reported the new $5-million medication program this spring.
"These positive early results look good for Island patients and our capacity to essentially diminish the spread of this exceedingly irresistible sickness in our territory," said Currie in a news discharge.
The medication Holkira Pak that is utilized as a part of the system gloats a cure rate of no less than 95 for every penny and few or no symptoms.
Patients take the medication for 24 weeks and get instruction, treatment and backing at hepatitis facilities in Charlottetown and Summerside.
The 32 patients will be retested in October, 12 weeks after their last treatment to guarantee the infection hasn't returned.
More than 400 Islanders are known not contaminated with hepatitis C.
