Health Department: No New Hepatitis C Investigation

There will be no new investigation of the Minot Hepatitis-C outbreak.
That's the word from the North Dakota Department of Health today.
The health department responded to recent calls for a re-opening of the investigation into the outbreak that has infected at least 52 people, making it the largest unsolved outbreak of the disease in U.S. history.
Medical Services Section Chief Kirby Kruger says there is no evidence of ongoing transmission of Hepatitis-C in the Minot area.
Kruger says many Hepatitis-C outbreaks go unsolved and the investigation into the Minot outbreak was exhaustive and thorough.
He says if any new information is received the Health Department will respond appropriately.
